Kľúčovec between the Danube channels and EuroVelo 6

Kľúčovec begins with a clearly defined natural theme: Číčovské mŕtve rameno, also known locally as Lion, is a national nature reserve; 27.59 hectares of it lie within the cadastral area of Kľúčovec. Together with the nearby Lion meander lake, this gives the village a clearly recognizable landscape theme.

Nature

Kľúčovské rameno is a naturally flooded former river channel depression in the cadastral areas of Kľúčovec, Sap and Medveďov. It is part of Section IV of the Dunajské luhy Protected Landscape Area and is subject to protection level 2. Kľúčovec belongs to the Dunajské luhy area, which encompasses the main course of the Danube and its left bank with floodplain forests and natural aquatic habitats.

Several levels therefore stand alongside one another for spatial orientation: the cadastral area of Kľúčovec, the other cadastral areas mentioned, the nearby meander lake and the larger Dunajské luhy area. This distinction keeps the reserve, former river channel, lake and protected landscape area separate as independent points of reference and makes the special features of the Danube floodplains visible at their respective scales.

Culture

The Reformed Calvinist Church of Kľúčovec dates from the first half of the 19th century. It has a single-nave interior and a tower with a Baroque cupola. In 1885, the Reformed Church of Kľúčovec was rebuilt.

Alongside the natural environment, the church adds a second, architectural and historical perspective to the village. Its origins in the first half of the 19th century, the single-nave interior, the Baroque tower cupola and the 1885 rebuilding are different aspects of the same building and can be considered separately.

Cycling route

EuroVelo 6, the international Danube cycling route, passes through Kľúčovec. EuroVelo 6 connects Nantes with Bucharest.

The route connects its specific course through Kľúčovec with a broad international context between Nantes and Bucharest. This means that a cycling trip offers both the local Danube section and the route’s broader alignment as distinct levels of orientation.

Water environment and information

The lower section of Kľúčovské rameno was reconnected to the main course of the Danube. An information board is located in the area of the Danube side channels near the village of Kľúčovec.

The water environment and information represent two different facets here: the connection of the lower part of the former river channel with the main course describes a spatial relationship with the Danube, while the information board in the area of the side channels represents a separate information point identified on site.
