Dunajský Klátov – Watermill, Cycle Paths and Nature

On the banks of Klátovské rameno, a branch of the Little Danube, stands the Dunajský Klátov watermill, a cultural and technical monument in the cadastral area of the municipality of Dunajský Klátov. Culture by the Water

The Dunajský Klátov watermill houses a permanent exhibition on the milling industry with original equipment. The mill is also one of the sites of the Žitnoostrovské Museum. Thus, one building brings together the technical history of milling and the museum presentation of the region.

The Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built in 1927 and is the oldest building in Dunajský Klátov. Natural Area

Klátovské rameno is a right-bank tributary of the Little Danube and flows through the cadastral area of Dunajský Klátov. The watercourse thus forms the landscape context in which the watermill and viewing platform are located.

Approximately 80 bird species have been recorded in the area of Klátovské rameno, about 70 of which breed there directly. Both figures are approximate: the number of recorded species describes the entire known total, while the smaller number refers to the portion that breeds directly in the area.

Cycle Connections

Section VII/2 of the Malé Dvorníky–Dunajský Klátov cycle path is 6.1 km long. The developed section runs from the centre of Malé Dvorníky to the cadastral boundary of Dunajský Klátov; after that, the signposted cycle route continues along a lower-class road into the municipality of Dunajský Klátov. The length, developed section, and subsequent route therefore belong to different parts of the same connection.

The main cycle path IX is 14 km long and leads from Kútniky via Trhová Hradská, Horné Mýto, and Ohrady Ostrov to Dunajský Klátov. Comparing the two figures, a shorter connection with its specifically named developed section stands alongside a longer route passing through several municipalities.
