Nitrianske Rudno: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Nitrianske Rudno reservoir was originally built to supply water to the Nováky thermal power plant and chemical works. It was created on the Nitrica River between 1951 and 1958; it covers 89.7 hectares and has a total volume of 4.410 million cubic metres.

Nature
During the summer months, the reservoir offers opportunities for swimming, water sports, cultural events, concerts and car and motorcycle gatherings. A nature trail at the reservoir provides information about the local flora and fauna, as well as significant habitats in the Strážovské vrchy and in protected Natura 2000 areas.
Mount Rokoš is located in the immediate vicinity of Nitrianske Rudno, as is Mount Čierny Vrch. Mount Holý Vrch and Mount Okruhlý Vrch are located in the surrounding area of Nitrianske Rudno.
Motocross races for the Mayor’s Cup were held at the Kaňová grounds in 2024 and 2026.
Hiking and Trails
The Fraňa-Madva educational trail begins in Nitrianske Rudno and ends in Nitrianske Sučany. It leads through beech, pine and oak forests as well as meadows, and features rock formations with views of the Rudnianska Valley. In addition to Brložná Cave, the Fraňa-Madva Trail includes a short ascent secured with chains.
The traditional Fraňa-Madva March took place for the 29th time in 2026 and led to Madvova studnička; the 2026 route ran from the area of Madvova studnička to Nitrianske Sučany and was 11.7 kilometres long.
Culture
The Roman Catholic Church of Saints Andrej-Svorad and Benedict was built between 1804 and 1816 on the site of a wooden church destroyed by fire. The church grounds contain a Lourdes grotto south of the entrance; the Fraňa-Madva monument was also erected there in 1925.
Horný kaštieľ, also known as Javorčekeje dom, is considered the oldest house in Nitrianske Rudno. The surrounding area is also home to the Church of Svätý Vendelín and the Church of Púšť.
DĽH spod Rokoša performs songs from Upper Nitra and focuses particularly on the Rudnianska Valley. The Rokôška folklore ensemble has maintained its folklore work since 1986 and regularly performs at folklore events both within and outside the region.
Folk customs, traditions and traditional crafts are preserved in Nitrianske Rudno through various events. The town is also associated with a mining tradition. Fraňa Madva studied botany, collected and researched medicinal plants, and was widely sought after as a folk healer.
