Velký Slavkov – Culture and the High Tatras

Veľký Slavkov is a starting point for visitors to the High Tatras. The town combines distinctive mountain history with visible traces of different eras: Slavkovský štít is 2,452 m high and was named after Veľký Slavkov. Churches and local history

The evangelical church in Veľký Slavkov was built in 1786–1788 as a towerless Toleration Church. It is a hall church with a semicircular termination. The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Andrew the Apostle dates from the 13th century and was built around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries as a single-nave early Gothic building. It has largely been preserved in its original medieval form. Its southern portal is considered an example of Gothic stonework. The local history therefore places a Toleration Church from the late 18th century alongside a largely preserved medieval church building.

Leisure and dining

Adventure Golf Veľký Slavkov has an 18-hole miniature golf course. Miniature golf provides entertainment for the whole family and for groups. The area also includes the traditional Slovak restaurant Salaš Slavkov. The leisure facility and restaurant are therefore located on the same named premises.

Rest area

A rest area is located approximately 2.5 km beyond Veľký Slavkov in the direction leading away from the cemetery. It has a wooden shelter with seating and a fire pit.
