In the western part of Trávnica in the Nové Zámky District stands Veterná studňa, a national cultural monument dating from around 1920. Originally, it pumped water into a gravity-fed water supply system connected to a manor house, a distillery and a horse stable. In autumn 2017, Veterná studňa was extensively restored and returned to working order. It is a unique testament to historic water-management technology in Slovakia. Following its extensive restoration, it was intended to be presented to the general public as part of the regional educational trail.

History

On the western side of Trávnica, in the direction of Maňa, stands Kaštieľ Ladislava Barlanghiho, built by Ladislav Barlanghyi in 1862. In the centre of Trávnica is Kaštieľ Rudnyianszkych, a late Baroque manor house. Kaštieľ Balogovcov is also part of the village’s architectural heritage: the Neoclassical manor house, which has been rebuilt several times, is located next to the church; in 1928, Rudolf Tarisch had it extensively renovated. The Baroque Roman Catholic Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Trávnica dates from 1741.

Nature

The “História a súčasnosť obce Trávnica” educational trail begins in the centre of Trávnica in front of the Trávnica primary school building. The park west of Kaštieľ Ladislava Barlanghiho provides a distinctive botanical feature. Exotic trees grow there, including a London plane, a ginkgo and a tulip tree.

Surroundings and getting there

The nearby Podhájska Thermal Spa is the main tourist attraction for visitors to Trávnica.

Regular bus services connect Trávnica with Podhájska and the towns of Vráble, Šurány and Nové Zámky. The nearest railway station is in Podhájska, with connections there to the Bratislava–Nové Zámky–Levice–Zvolen railway line.
