The village landscape features the Roman Catholic Church of Materstvo Panny Márie, dating from 1907. A monument in the local cemetery commemorates the victims of the First and Second World Wars. It was created by the academic sculptor Jozef Kliský. The historic buildings in the cadastral area also include the ruins of the former Baroque church and the Pauline monastery of Mariánska Čeľaď, also known as Máriacsalád.

Another special feature is the House of Folk Housing, known in Slovak as Dom ľudového bývania or Ľudový dom. It is listed as a national cultural monument. At the same time, its history points to religious construction activity in the village: an order built a twin-towered church and a monastery in Veľké Lovce.

Museums and heritage

The local museum of Veľké Lovce provides a setting for changing cultural insights. Occasional exhibitions of embroidery, woven hemp textiles and lace are held there. Visits can be arranged by telephone. Another destination is the House of Folk Housing, a private museum whose visit can be arranged with its founder, Jozef Galbavý. The goulash-cooking competition in Veľké Lovce marks the beginning of summer and is scheduled for 29 June.

Veľké Lovce also features on named routes with a historical focus. Zákostolie in Veľké Lovce is a stop on the eighth round of the “Cyklopotulky medzi Žitavou a Hronom” cycling series, which focuses on vanished ecclesiastical monuments. Another connection is provided by the three-day route “Trojdenná motanica okolím Podhájskej”. It leads from Vrstevník via Veľké Lovce to Lótsky kríž and onwards to Čechy.
