Holiday apartment in Gbelce: Nature Reserve and Vineyards
Those considering Gbelce as a travel destination will find natural features here that differ in both their location and their protection status. Within the municipality of Gbelce, the Parížske močiare wetlands extend across 184.05 hectares. The area is a national nature reserve and is recognised as a Ramsar wetland. Reeds are cultivated in the marshy terrain along the Paríž Canal. The reed environment is home to a diverse bird population and rare plants. At the edge of the municipality of Gbelce stands the Parížske močiare observation tower: it offers views of the marshland, is suitable for birdwatching and is easily accessible.
Landscape
The landscape also includes Drieňová hora. It lies within the cadastral areas of Gbelce and the neighbouring municipality of Nová Vieska. Drieňová hora is a nature reserve covering just under four hectares, designated in 1964. It is home to numerous rare plant species that are also significant from a European perspective. The land from Gbelce towards the Danube is flat and suitable for growing grain and fruit, as well as for viticulture. The local landscape therefore combines protected areas with clearly defined agricultural uses.
Culture
A memorial plaque is located on the birthplace of Ján Stampay in Gbelce. The Church of Saint Charles Borromeo in Gbelce is a Baroque church from the 18th century with a Neoclassical redesign from the beginning of the 19th century. Gbelce is also home to a renovated draw well named “Renovovaná vahadlová studňa”. Remembrance, architecture and a named historical object thus appear in different forms within the municipality.
Religious Sites
A Stations of the Cross route is located in the direction of the local vineyards. A notable 3.5-metre-high bronze sculpture entitled “Snímanie Ježiša z kríža” stands in a Roman Catholic cemetery.
Community Life
In 1993, the municipality took over the Ardea recreational facility and created the conditions for rural tourism there. At the second “Priateľské popoludnie” in the vineyards of Gbelce on 20 August 2022, quality wines, wild boar goulash, baked sausage and fresh pagáče were offered, accompanied by music. The municipal day “Deň obce Gbelce” took place in 2023. Municipal development and dated events are presented side by side here.
