Discover Rejdová: Culture, Trails and Ski Resort

Stolica is located in Rejdová and, at 1,477 metres, is the highest peak in the Slovak Ore Mountains. The local culture includes the national cultural monument “Evanjelický kostol Sv. Michala Archanjela”, which dates back to the 17th century. Landscape and culture provide two different perspectives on Rejdová: the peak represents its geographical context, while the church reflects the community’s developed history.

Culture

The church’s altar ensemble, featuring the painting “The Last Supper”, was created around 1750 in a local sculpture and woodcarving workshop in the Gemer region. The Múzeum tradičnej ľudovej kultúry is located in a traditional wooden folk house on the village square.

Traditional folk crafts still practised in Rejdová include carpet weaving, bobbin lace-making, shingle production and sewing fur clothing. The Hôra folklore group was founded in 1953 and is dedicated to presenting and preserving traditional folk arts and crafts at various events. Craftsmanship and folklore thus appear both as individual techniques and as a publicly maintained tradition.

Trails and Landscape

The adventure trail begins at the car park behind the local amphitheatre. The signposted route offers a blue and a red route variant, is 3 km long and is accessible to pedestrians and cycling tourists. An oversized swing overlooking the village is also part of this trail.

The Náučný chodník has seven information panels in the built-up area and the surrounding area of the municipality. It is approximately 3.5 km long and can be completed in about 1.5 hours. The length and walking time provide two specific figures for incorporating the trails into your own daily plans. The 3 km route with two variants and the approximately 3.5 km circuit with a walking time of about 1.5 hours represent different trail formats.

The two trail formats therefore differ in their layout: the adventure trail combines the 3 km route with two marked variants and the oversized swing, while the Náučný chodník connects information panels in the village and outside the municipality. This allows route length, walking time and the information available to be weighed up side by side when planning your day.

Winter Sports

The Rejdová ski resort offers three ski lifts for beginners and advanced skiers. It is located in the Vŕšok district, about a ten-minute walk from the village square; parking is available directly at the ski lift.

Tradition and Cuisine

The Gemerský folklorný festival in Rejdová traditionally takes place in the second half of August. The festival programme included open courtyards, demonstrations of traditional folk crafts and presentations of artisans’ work. The participating municipalities offered traditional dishes; local hunters also served traditional hunter’s goulash. The festival period, the open courtyards, the crafts and the food bring together several facets of local cultural life within a defined event period.
