Holiday apartment in Dedinky: Geravy, gorge and Palcmanská Maša
Dedinky lies in a landscape where the Geravy plateau, water and prominent natural attractions are closely connected. Geravy is a vast, well-preserved karst plateau in the southern Slovak Paradise. Mountain meadows, clearings and small woodland areas shape the appearance of this plateau and give it a distinctly different character from the village in the valley.
The Dedinky–Geravy chairlift connects Dedinky with the plateau. During the ride, views open up over the natural landscape of this part of the Slovak Paradise. The village and the plateau therefore form part of the same excursion area, where the transition between the valley and the karst landscape is visible. The Margecany–Červená Skala railway line also runs through Dedinky.
Nature
The Zejmarská Gorge lies in the immediate vicinity of Dedinky and is designated as a national nature reserve. It is also the only accessible gorge in the southern Slovak Paradise. The start of the gorge can be reached from the crossroads by the hotel in Dedinky via a red-marked trail in about 20 minutes. This means that both the starting point in the village and the colour marking of the access route are specified for this natural attraction.
Water
The Palcmanská Maša reservoir near Dedinky covers 86 hectares. Swimming is possible at the reservoir. Fishing is also permitted in Palcmanská Maša; the body of water is classified as a trout fishing area. The reservoir therefore combines a clearly stated water area with two different uses: swimming and explicitly permitted fishing. Its classification as a trout fishing area is also part of the description of the body of water.
Hiking
The hiking trail to Havrania skala starts in Dedinky. There are no ladders or rungs on this trail, and it is also suitable for dogs. The destination and starting point are therefore established, as are the two stated characteristics of the trail. The access route to the Zejmarská Gorge and the trail to Havrania skala are two separate hiking topics in the vicinity of Dedinky.
Cycling
The Hnilecká Cycle Highway is just under 70 kilometres long and passes through 11 municipalities. Its starting point is in Dedinky, with a second starting point in Margecany. The route is therefore defined both by its approximate length and by the number of municipalities it passes through. The two starting points mark its connection between Dedinky and Margecany.
Culture
The Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is part of Dedinky’s cultural heritage. The Baroque-Classical church dates from 1835. Alongside the karst plateau, gorge, reservoir, hiking trails and cycle route, the church also represents a historic building in the village.
A holiday apartment in Dedinky is therefore set in a thematic environment of nature reserve, water, hiking, cycling, culture and a railway connection. These themes can be considered separately when planning a trip: Geravy and the gorges represent the landscape, Palcmanská Maša the water, the trails hiking and cycling, and the church the connection with the village.
