Near Rudinka, Kysucká brána forms a gateway from the Horné Považie region to the Dolné Kysuce region. Kysucká brána is a narrow passage created by the incision of the Kysuca River into a limestone cliff belt. Its landscape classification thus connects two regional areas with a distinctive geological formation.

Nature

The protected Kysucká brána natural monument features a unique geological profile of the cliff belt and is regularly visited by numerous geological excursions. Brodnianka is the higher of the two hills that form Rudinka’s Kysucká brána and is designated as a nature reserve. Heat-loving forest communities with many rare thermophilous species grow in the Rochovica Nature Reserve. In Slovakia, the distribution of these species is among the northernmost there.

Cycling

Cycling route 2403 (C1) passes through Rudinka, where it runs along road III/2095. Within the cadastral area of Rudinka, the cycling route is stated to have a length of 2.4 km. Beyond Rudinka, the route runs from Žilina via Kysucké Nové Mesto to Krásno nad Kysucou. The passage through the village, the specific road section and the regional route alignment thus belong to the same described route.

Both the specific course and the route’s broader connection are relevant for classifying the cycling route. In Rudinka, road III/2095 is the named section; at the same time, the route information extends from Žilina via Kysucké Nové Mesto to Krásno nad Kysucou. The 2.4 km explicitly refers to the cadastral area of Rudinka and not to the entire connection mentioned.

Walking and hiking

The Panské Vŕšky educational trail is located in the Dolné Kysuce area, within the cadastral territory of Rudinka, and is approximately 550 m long. It has an elevation difference of 99 m. The educational trail is an easy walk suitable for families with children. Parking for the trail is available at the recreation area at the entrance to Rudinka.

The opening route of Kysucká brána leads from Rudina via Závršie and the summit of Rochovica to Rudinka. The closing route leads from Radoľa via Snežnica and the summit of Brodňanka to Rudinka. Both routes include the named summits and places in their respective route alignments.

The two Kysucká brána routes use different landmarks from the educational trail: their descriptions each name a sequence of places and a summit, while Panské Vŕšky is listed as a separate educational trail within the cadastral territory of Rudinka. This keeps the different route descriptions clearly separate.

Surroundings

The mountains of Hradisko, Diel, Straník and Žiar are located in the vicinity of Rudinka. In the wider regional surroundings are the ruins of Starý Hrad and the Church of Svätá Helena. The destinations mentioned therefore range from the immediate vicinity to Rudinka’s wider regional surroundings.

The spatial structure of the information ranges from points in the vicinity to destinations in the wider regional surroundings. Hradisko, Diel, Straník and Žiar are assigned to the vicinity of Rudinka; Starý Hrad and Svätá Helena, by contrast, appear in the wider regional surroundings.
