Discover Báhoň: Landscape, Viticulture and History

Báhoň lies in the southern part of the fertile Trnava Tableland, in the Trnava hilly region, and belongs to the Little Carpathians wine-growing region, the Malokarpatský wine-growing region. The Červený Kameň microregion is also part of the regional classification. The landscape around Báhoň is characterised by gently rolling hills. The Vištucký stream flows through the cadastral area.

Culture and History

The chapel “Kaplnka sv. Apolónie” stands on S. Hlinku Street in Báhoň. On the main road there is a wayside statue of Saint Vendelin dating from 1860. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on Potočná Street. In the centre of Báhoň there is a monument to those who fell in the First and Second World Wars.

The church “Kostol sv. Františka z Assisi” was built from 1914 to 1921 according to a design by the architect Milan Michal Harminc. It is a single-nave building with a polygonally ended presbytery. A stone cross stands beside the church; an inscription gives 1874 as the year of its erection.

Báhoň Castle is a symmetrical, U-shaped, two-storey building with access from the courtyard. It was built between 1759 and 1765 in the Baroque style and remodelled in the Classicist style in 1810 or 1816. The beginnings of settlement in Báhoň date back to the Neolithic period; finds from a Neolithic settlement provide evidence of this.

In 1845, the horse-drawn railway line from Bratislava to Trnava was built. This construction had a positive effect on life in Báhoň.

Traditions and Events

“Richtárska vatra” is a recurring event in Báhoň featuring the traditional lighting of a bonfire. In 2026, it took place at the Báhoň football stadium and included concerts and activities for children.

“Stavanie mája” is a traditional, recurring spring event in Báhoň and takes place in front of the municipal office.
