Discover Pećinci

Pećinci is a destination for families who want to combine cultural discoveries with experiences in nature and regional traditions. The Serbian Bread Museum – Jeremija opened in 1995 and offers an unusual encounter with the history of everyday rural life: visitors can touch some of the objects directly, while selected items are also demonstrated to show how they work. The Pećinci Cultural Centre organises traditional events, festivals, competitions and cultural programmes for all age groups throughout the year. The Svetosavska svečanost takes place there every January. For two decades, the Mini-tini fest has been giving children their first musical and theatrical experiences. This creates a cultural offering that is not limited to sightseeing, but also highlights shared experiences and local customs.

Culinary traditions are also part of the event programme. The Pećinačka Kotlićijada is a competition for preparing traditional Srem paprikaš. The “Kolači naših baka” presentation, held as part of the Pećinačko kulturno leto, focuses on preserving traditional recipes and the tradition of home baking. Those who enjoy getting to know regional ways of life while travelling will find specific opportunities here beyond general impressions of the landscape.

Obedska bara: Trails, water and nature

In the wider area around Pećinci lies the horseshoe-shaped Obedska bara between Kupinovo and the neighbouring village of Obrež. It represents the former riverbed of the Sava. The nature reserve has designated trails named “Putevi đurđevka”, “Staza potkovice” and “Kružna edukativna staza”. Boat and catamaran trips are also available. Aksentijev Kućerak in Ogar was built in the second half of the 18th century and is protected as a cultural monument of exceptional importance. The Putnik family house, also known as Etno kuća Putnik, is protected as a cultural monument of great importance. In Donji Tovarnik, MagicZoo is home to more than 100 different bird species as well as native and exotic animals; there is also an aquarium.
