Leninsky District: Bogutscharowo Estate and Culture in Tula Oblast
Accommodation in Leninsky District
An estate house dating from the late 18th century, two parks from different periods and a system of three ponds characterise Bogutscharowo Estate in Oktjabrskiy, in Leninsky District. The ensemble brings together buildings and landscape features to form a cultural and historical focal point, with its individual elements reflecting different periods in the history of the estate and the family.
An estate ensemble spanning several centuries
The estate house dates from the late 18th century; its wings were built in the second half of the 19th century. The ensemble also includes the manager’s house and the bell tower, built in 1894. The Church of the Presentation of the Lord was built in 1841 to a design by A. S. Khomyakov and is described as active. If you would also like to visit the church, check in advance whether access is possible.
The parks also reflect different historical layers: the estate includes a formal park from the 18th century and a landscape park from the 19th century. A system of three ponds completes the ensemble. The cemetery, dating from the second half of the 19th century, lies in the northwestern part of the estate. Together, these features offer more than a description of the estate house alone: they also encompass the property’s architectural and landscape elements.
Bogutscharowo is the only Khomyakov family estate preserved in its original condition, and a monument to provincial noble life. It was included in the list of sites of historical and cultural heritage of federal significance by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 176 of 20 February 1995. For those interested in cultural history, the estate’s distinctive architecture, park types and historical context complement one another here.
