Becicherecu Mic is located on the Timișoara–Sânnicolau Mare road (DN 6), 17 km northwest of Timișoara. The commune consists predominantly of flat terrain; there is a single hill within its territory. Culture and History
The Romanian Orthodox Church in Becicherecu Mic was completed and consecrated in 1909. After 2010, it was completely renovated and fitted with a carved iconostasis, carved furnishings, and frescoes.
The Dimitrie-Èšichindeal Museum opened in August 1987 in the building of the Serbian school in Becicherecu Mic. The Serbian Orthodox Church was consecrated on December 26, 1823; its patronal feast is the Translation of the Relics of Saint Nicholas.
House no. 644 in Becicherecu Mic is a listed historic house dating from 1914. It was built by Bucher Ioan for his daughter Bucher Anna-Maria, married name Lauer. The Monumentul Ostașului Sovietic is also located in Becicherecu Mic.
Archaeology and Landscape
The Satul vechi archaeological site, also known as Dealul Crucii, is located in the plain near the Apa Mare stream. It includes open settlement remains from the Neolithic period, the post-Roman period, and the early Middle Ages of the 8th–9th and 12th–13th centuries.
Festivals and Events
The Cupa Rugii fishing competition at Balta Pescărețul reached its tenth edition in August 2022. Its twelfth edition was announced on August 11, 2024.
On August 15, the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, the Romanian Orthodox Ruga takes place. As part of it, an instrumental recital featuring authentic Banat music was held in the church courtyard. The program of the 2024 Romanian Orthodox Ruga also included the ceremonial cutting of the festive bread in the Romanian Orthodox parish church of Adormirea Domnului in Becicherecu Mic.
The seventh round of the Timiș Championship in automobile and karting was scheduled for August 11, 2024, on a circuit along Strada Gării and Strada Bisericii Catolice.
The Roman Catholic Ruga takes place in November and is locally known as Kirchweich.
Culinary Delights
On April 29, 2026, the regional selection for the Banat region of the European Young Chef Award took place at Divine Events in Becicherecu Mic; the participants reinterpreted traditional dishes.
