The Zimnicea Cetate archaeological site is located on a promontory of the elevated Danube terrace west of the present-day city of Zimnicea.
The Gurban tradition, a celebration in honor of the holy martyr Tryphon as the patron saint of vineyards and wine, is observed in Licuriciu–Călinești and Izvoarele on February 1. The Căluș tradition was revived in Năsturelu and Calomfirești. The cultural program in Teleorman also includes the “Marin Preda” National Literature Festival.
The restored medieval Turnu Fortress can be visited. The medieval Turnu Fortress in Turnu Măgurele dates from the 14th century and is located near the confluence of the Olt and Danube rivers.
