Pârteștii de Sus: Wooden Church, Coin Hoard and Traditions
Pârteștii de Sus combines a small rural community with remarkable traces of history and vibrant traditions. At its heart is the wooden church “Sfinții Voievozi”, built in 1779. Its ensemble was included in the list of historic monuments of Suceava County in 2004. The heritage protection applies to the ensemble of the wooden church, not merely to the individual building.
Culture and History
A special historical trace leads to the Pârteștii de Sus coin hoard. It consists of 485 coins and coin fragments. The hoard was discovered in the “Tonog” area at Dealul Cojocului within the village of Pârteștii de Sus.
The coin hoard belongs to a broader horizon of hoard finds containing Macedonian tetradrachms. This horizon extends from Central and Eastern Europe to the Balkans.
The cultural life also includes the “Pădurețu” cultural ensemble. It received new traditional costumes and musical instruments. Traditional clothing and musical equipment appear here together as components of the ensemble.
Festivals and Events

The date falls immediately after the Christmas holidays and is expressly dedicated to winter customs and traditions.
