Dealu Floreni: Church, Terraces and Circular Hike

Near Dealu Floreni lies a terrace that is 20–25 m high and more than 300 m wide. Below Dealu Floreni, the Dorna Terrace drops to 10 m. The specific height and width measurements make the terrain steps imaginable as spatial forms.

Landscape

The Dealu Florenilor Plateau is considered the most significant plateau formation on the left slope of the Dorna Valley. Near Dealu Florenilor, another terrace, 40–45 m high, includes, among other features, the glacis of the Ouşoru Massif. The landscape forms mentioned range from the plateau on the valley slope to the terraces of varying heights and the glacis of the Ouşoru Massif.

Culture and History

The parish church of Dealul Floreni is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles. Saints Michael and Gabriel the Archangels are additional patrons of the church. Construction of the present-day church in Dealul Floreni began in 2007. The church was consecrated on September 30, 2012. The start of construction and the consecration are clearly distinguished by these two dates.

The DN17, which connects Vatra Dornei with Bistriţa, runs directly by the parish church.

The aerodrome in Dealu Floreni was established by Germans before the Second World War as an airfield or military base. The aerodrome was used for recreational ultralight flights on routes of any kind in the surrounding area. The routes were not limited to a single route, but could be freely chosen in the surrounding area.

Getting Around

Dealul Floreni has railway infrastructure with a loading and unloading line that is permanently in operation. The permanently operated line forms part of the settlement's railway infrastructure and is explicitly associated with loading and unloading operations.
