The “Sfântul Mare Mucenic Dimitrie” Church was built in Fundu Moldovei between 1819 and 1822. In Fundu Moldovei de Sus stands the “Sfântul Nicolae” Church, which was built in 1800.
The “Adormirea Maicii Domnului” Monastery in Orata was consecrated on 26 September 1954 and is a tourist destination in the municipality of Fundu Moldovei. The traditional house from Colacu dates from 1901 and is exhibited at the Village Museum and Museum of Folk Art in Bucharest.
The “Gospodăria Fundu Moldovei” ensemble in the municipality of Fundu Moldovei dates from the period 1876–1900. An ethnographic museum is located in the village of Fundu Moldovei, in the immediate vicinity of the Dimitrie-Gusti School.
Activities of domestic crafts preserved in the municipality of Fundu Moldovei include weaving, sheepskin processing, sewing and embroidery. The traditional house type developed from a one-room dwelling, through a house with an unheated entrance area, pantry and single room, into a house with two rooms and a central entrance area.
In 1937, a group of farmers from Fundu Moldovei took part in a large folk festival at London’s Albert Hall with traditional instruments, dances and customs.
Customs
The winter customs of Fundu Moldovei include the masked “Capra” custom. During the winter house-visiting ritual, older children use the “Buhai” bagpipe typical of the Fundu Moldovei region, which produces harsh sounds.
The church festival in Fundu Moldovei takes place on 26 October, the feast day of Saint Demetrius. In the municipality of Fundu Moldovei, the “Balul gospodarilor” is held on the second day of Easter.
On 25 March, the national Orthodox festival of religious choral music “Buna Vestire” takes place in the municipality of Fundu Moldovei. The “Rapsod Ilie Cazacu” folk music groups festival is also held there on Saint Elias’ Day.
Nature and Trails
The 136-kilometre section of the Via Transilvanica in Suceava County passes through Fundu Moldovei. The stage from Fundu Moldovei to Vatra Dornei is rated as moderately difficult.
From Fundu Moldovei, the Via Transilvanica follows the valley of the Arseneasa River before leading into forests and meadows. The “Fundu Moldovei – Botuş – Fundu Moldovei” cycle tour begins in the municipality of Fundu Moldovei at the Arseneasa stream.
The limestone cliff at Pârâul Cailor, “La Stânca”, is a 1,000 m² geological nature reserve in the village of Fundu Moldovei in the Obcina Feredeului. At the entrance to Fundu Moldovei stands a small gate with the name of the village carved into its wood.
The grave of Dr Traian Popovici is located near the wooden church in Fundu Moldovei.

The registered traditional dairy product range of Deluț Cow Farm includes smoked Deluț cheese, kneaded Deluț cheese, Deluț whey cheese and Deluț cheese.
