In the centre of Satu Mare, a memorial plaque commemorates the signing of the Peace of Satu Mare. This historical connection is therefore directly present in today's city centre.

Culture and Architectural History

The current building of the Muzeul Județean Satu Mare was constructed in 1936 according to plans by the architect G.P. Liteanu. The permanent exhibition “Oameni – Destine – Istorie” spans the period from prehistory to the present day. The Satu Mare Art Museum is housed in the neo-Gothic Casa Vécsey. The Biserica cu Lanțuri is the largest Reformed church in Satu Mare. The city's cultural landscape therefore includes both a museum with a permanent exhibition spanning a broad period of history and an art museum in a neo-Gothic building.

The concert hall of the Filarmonica de Stat Dinu Lipatti is located in a wing of the Hotel Dacia built in the Secession style in 1902. The building of the Teatrul de Nord Satu Mare was constructed in the neoclassical style and completed in 1892. The Turnul Pompierilor was renovated in 2005. The architectural details therefore cite specific years for the concert hall and theatre, while the renovation of the Fire Tower dates from 2005.
