The “Vasile Lucăcel” History Department of the Zalău County Museum of History and Art presents the history of this region through reconstructions. The timeline ranges from the Palaeolithic through antiquity and the Middle Ages, as well as the so-called Golden Age, to the present day. A modern addition is the “Clio High Tech” exhibition hall, where 3D cultural heritage objects are presented using virtual and augmented reality. The house now known as the Ady Endre Memorial House preserves a connection to the city’s literary history. The poet Ady Endre lived there for a time and wrote his first poems, which were published in Szilágysag. The memorial house was built in a Neo-Baroque style with local elements. The Wesselényi Statue also stands in the park in Zalău’s historic centre, today’s Piața Iuliu Maniu. It depicts a scene from the 1848 Revolution, was created by the sculptor Fadrusz Janos and inaugurated on 18 September 1902.
