A specific hiking perspective is offered by Route No. 4: From Cabana Fântânele, the panorama extends over the Durău resort and the Bistriței Mountains. Cascada Duruitoarea can be reached from the Durău resort via three marked hiking trails in approximately two hours. The approximate duration of two hours and the three marked trails give the hike to Cascada Duruitoarea a clear timeframe and make it easier to plan a hiking day in Durău with breaks scheduled during the tour.

As a gateway to Ceahlău National Park, Durău also provides a permanent point of contact for planning tours. Rangers are permanently available there to inform and advise visitors on route selection, trail conditions, weather conditions, destinations along the trails and the necessary equipment.

Skiing and sledding in winter

For winter days, Pârtia Durău offers beginners and advanced skiers opportunities for skiing and sledding. The resort thus caters to different levels of experience and different forms of active time in the snow.

Monastery church and Moldavian architecture

Another focus is the church of Mănăstirea Durău monastery. It is a cross-shaped brick building with elements of Moldavian architecture dating from the 18th century. The interior contains encaustic paintings created by students and graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts in Iași under the guidance of N. Tonitza; Corneliu Baba was also among those involved.

According to tradition and the history of the monastery, the first monastic settlement in Durău was founded in 1620 by the nun Marina. She was the daughter of a Moldavian voivode and the granddaughter of Vasile Lupu; together with two maids, she entered the monastic life there.

The Schitul Sâhăstria monastery and the Mănăstire Bistriţa monastery are also located in the wider region around Durău. They extend the cultural radius beyond the immediate surroundings of the village.
