Petroșani – Parâng, Museums and Mountains

Around five kilometres from Petroşani is the nearby Parâng resort. Stațiunea Parâng has six ski slopes. Its winter sports facilities include a chairlift and drag lifts. The slopes are equipped with night lighting and are suitable for beginners and advanced skiers. During the warmer season, marked trails in the nearby area of Stațiunea Parâng lead to tourist destinations in the Parâng Massif. The nearby Parâng area includes more than 40 glacial lakes. The area also includes the Calcescu Geological and Botanical Reserve. This means that the Parâng Massif offers both clearly designated winter sports facilities and marked trails and natural landscape features. The ski slopes combine a chairlift, drag lifts and night lighting, with an explicitly stated focus on beginners and advanced skiers.

Culture

The Teatrul Dramatic „Ion D. Sîrbu“ offers audiences in Petroşani an ongoing artistic dialogue. The Muzeul Mineritului in Petroşani was founded on 4 August 1961. Traditional tools are exhibited at the Muzeul Momârlanului. The exhibition also includes cultural heritage objects donated by Momârlan families. The objects on display are intended for tourists and local residents. The same Muzeul Momârlanului preserves traces of the Momârlani. These traces are located in two authentic houses. The houses are more than 200 years old. Thus, Petroşani’s cultural offerings bring together ongoing theatre work, the founding history of the mining museum and the material evidence of the Momârlani. Visiting hours for Peştera Bolii vary by season. From 1 June to 15 September, Peştera Bolii can be visited daily from 09:00 to 18:00. From 16 September to 31 May, visiting hours on Saturdays and Sundays are from 09:00 to 18:00. A holiday apartment in Petroșani can be considered as accommodation when planning a trip. The seasonal regulations for Peştera Bolii therefore specify a visiting window of 09:00 to 18:00 for both periods, but distinguish between daily opening during the summer and weekends during the rest of the season.
