Church and Local History

The Parohia Arsa is dedicated to the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel. Construction of the present church began in 1937; it was consecrated on November 5, 1978. According to local tradition, Arsa was founded around 1800 by several families of Bulgarian and Turkish origin. The traditional year is not an exact founding date, but rather a chronological indication of the beginnings of the village. The church therefore has a dated construction and consecration history, while the founding of the village derives from a local tradition.

Ancient Traces in Arsa and Albeşti

Fragments of handmade vessels as well as stamped handles of imported amphorae from Heracleea and Sinope originate from Arsa. The finds are dated to the 4th to 3rd century BC. In Albeşti, the ancient citadel is a Greek fort. The amphorae thereby connect the find site of Arsa with their origin in Heracleea and Sinope. Chronologically, these ancient traces predate the locally伝承ed founding of Arsa around 1800 by many centuries. In Albeşti, the Greek fort complements the finds from Arsa with an archaeological structure.

Farm, Animals, and Playground

Ograda Veseliei offers children a farm experience focused on animals and agriculture. During a visit, children can interact with farm animals and feed goats, rabbits, and a pony. In addition, Ograda Veseliei has a children's playground with a zip line, climbing towers, and swings; it also includes a straw maze. Alongside contact with the animals, specific play opportunities are therefore also available there. The agricultural focus remains a separate emphasis alongside the animals.

The Pădurea Hagieni nature reserve is located in the municipality of Albeşti, on the southeastern edge of the Southern Dobruja Plateau. Directions to Parohia Arsa

Access to Parohia Arsa is via D.J. 391, which connects Mangalia with Negru Vodă. Nine kilometers after leaving Mangalia, turn right toward the parish.
