Valea Seacă is home to the Valea Seacă – Dealul Titelca archaeological site. It is a fortified settlement from the Middle Bronze Age and belongs to the Monteoru culture. The site therefore connects the name of the locality with a clearly defined prehistoric settlement type and a named archaeological culture. The designation as a fortified settlement describes the site itself, while the Middle Bronze Age and Monteoru culture establish its historical classification.

Culture and History

The present-day parish church of Valea Seacă probably dates from 1844. On 28 August 1844, it was consecrated by the priest Ioan Neculai Hasnaș. According to local oral tradition, the first church in Valea Seacă was built by the voivode Gheorghe Duca and his wife Anastasia Buhuș. Thus, alongside the archaeological site, ecclesiastical heritage and a locally transmitted founding story are also part of the village landscape. The year 1844 is associated both with the probable construction date of the present-day parish church and with its traditionally recorded consecration date.

Within the administrative area of Valea Seacă, Cucova Monastery has workshops for sculpture, carpentry and blacksmithing. The workshops mentioned therefore cover work in stone, wood and metal. Sculpture, carpentry and blacksmithing are presented here as three separate craft areas. In the wider regional surroundings of Valea Seacă are also the ruins of CET 2 Borzesti.

Landscape and Vineyards

Valea Seacă lies along a descending valley that begins on the eastern slope of Piemontul Orbenilor and extends to the Siret Corridor. In the western part of Valea Seacă, the hills are wooded, while vineyards lie on the eastern slopes. These vineyards belong to local residents. The local water network is formed by the Valea Seaca stream.

The place name also appears in the names of the Valea Seaca stream and the Dealul Valea Seacă hill. The landscape names thus refer to different named features in the area around the locality: the valley, the stream and the hill. The vineyards lie on the eastern slopes, while the wooded hills characterize the western part.

Surroundings

The churches of Biserica Cimitir Pânceşti, Biserica Cornii de Sus and Biserica Drăgeşti are located in the surroundings of Valea Seacă. The nearby area also includes the Dealul Cucova, Dealul Valea Seacă and Dealul Orbenilor hills. The La Fântâna lui Secaci spring is also part of the surroundings of Valea Seacă. The three churches mentioned belong to the surroundings of Valea Seacă, while the three named hills are explicitly located in the nearby area. The La Fântâna lui Secaci spring adds a water feature to this sequence of churches and landforms. The ruins of CET 2 Borzesti, on the other hand, are assigned to the wider regional surroundings.
