Culture and History

The Ghica-Comănești Palace is a historic monument. It was built in 1890. Stylistically, it belongs to the late Baroque and Eclecticism. Italian craftsmen built it under the direction of the architect Albert Galleron for Dimitrie Ghika.

The creation of the palace thus combines a specific year of construction with two architectural styles and the names of the people involved. Dimitrie Ghika is identified as the client alongside Albert Galleron and the Italian craftsmen who participated in its construction.

The “Urșilor” Festival takes place annually in the city of Comănești, in Bacău County. It is a cultural winter event. A festival of traditional customs and practices includes the bear parade. Groups from several regions of Moldavia take part.

Recreation on the Trotuș

The Trotuș Recreation Center is located on the bank of the Trotuș River. It is designated in Comănești as the most important attraction for recreational tourism.

Getting There

Comănești railway station is located on the Ciceu–Adjud railway line. This railway line connects Transylvania with Moldavia.
