Culture and History

In Vladimirescu, the new church of the Vladimirescu II parish follows the Romanian Neo-Byzantine style. In the centre of the municipality, next to the Catholic parish church, are the ruins of a Romanesque basilica. The ruins reveal the layout of a cathedral with three naves and two towers.

The old area around the Catholic church preserves medieval building structures. The Orthodox church in Vladimirescu is designated a historic monument. It was built between 1930 and 1934 and is dedicated to Saint Dimitrius the Great Martyr. The site of “La Cetate”, which includes an 11th- and 12th-century necropolis, is part of the town’s early medieval archaeology.

The private ethnological collection in Vladimirescu includes traditional costumes from Moldavia, the Mureș Valley, the Zarand area, the Crișuri region, the Arad Plain and Oltenia. The “Marițuca” Ethnographic Museum in the municipality displays traditional costumes from various folk regions and nationalities, as well as a loom and historical household items.
