Geographical Location
The settlement of Stremț lies in the lower reaches of the Geoagiu Valley, 4 km from the town of Teiuș. The municipality’s western limestone ridge reaches an elevation of 1,150 metres at Vârful Prisecii.
In the wider regional surroundings of Comuna Stremţ are Mount Geamăna, the Vârful Ţigla peak and the Biserica Şpălnaca church.
Culture
The Stremț ethnographic exhibition is located in the cultural centre next to the library; access is available on request. Its most significant exhibit is the traditional women’s and men’s costume. The exhibition also documents traditional weaving and the processing of wool, hemp and flax. Traditional wooden furniture, such as a farmhouse bed, a table and benches, can be seen, as well as the seasonal use of a loom.

Nature
Saxicolous plants such as Saxifraga paniculata, Asperula capilata and Dianthus spiculifolius grow on the municipality’s limestone ridge. Northern duck species such as Bucephala clangula and Clangula hiemalis occur in the floodplain of the lower Stremț Valley in autumn and occasionally in winter.

The Drumul Icoanei cultural route connects Alba Iulia, Teiuș, Stremț, Geoagiu de Sus and Valea Mănăstirii. It conveys insights into the significance of faith in the lives of Romanians in Transylvania, as well as the artistic expression of Romanians in Transylvania.
The Bishop’s Church of Geoagiu de Sus dates from the 16th century; the more recent of the church’s two fresco layers dates from 1724.
