Nature

Piatra Cetii lies in the western Trascău Mountains between the valleys of the Cetea and Galda streams. The isolated limestone ridge features jagged ridges, rocky escarpments, rock pinnacles and rocky gullies. It provides a habitat for rare, endemic or protected plants, including orchids, irises and edelweiss.

Cheile Întregalde is a 130-hectare protected area in the upper reaches of the Valea Gălzii, at elevations ranging from 500 to 1,139 metres. Its limestone escarpments, sharp ridges and towers are home to rare plants such as edelweiss. Edelweiss grows there at elevations of 500 to 800 metres; this is considered the lowest growing elevation of this species in Romania.

Poienile cu Narcise de la Tecșești is a two-hectare botanical protected area of national interest in IUCN Category IV. It preserves Narcissus stellaris, locally also known as “rușculiță”. The area lies at around 950 metres near the Piatra Cetii massif and belongs to the village of Tecșești in the municipality of Întregalde.

Geographical Location

Cheile Găldiței and Cheile Turcului lie within the municipality of Întregalde and are crossed by DJ106H, which connects Întregalde with Necrilești. The road from Întregalde passes through Cheile Găldiței; Cheile Turcului can be reached via the right-hand tributary Pârâul Turcului.

Access to Poienile cu Narcise de la Tecșești is via DN1 and DJ104K, followed by a forest road and a footpath to the protected area. Peștera Bisericuța can be reached via Road 107K from Întregalde towards Necrilești, followed by a forest road to Sfârcea and an unmarked footpath.

Culture and History

The wooden church of “Sf. Ilie” in Întregalde was built in 1774 and is a historic monument. The church of “Sf. Arhangheli” in Dealul Geoagiului was built in 1742 and is also a historic monument. It is the Orthodox parish church of the Romanian Orthodox community in Dealu Geoagiului.

The ethnographic museum in the village of Întregalde houses old objects from peasant households, traditional women's and men's clothing, as well as documents, publications and photographs relating to the municipal administration and its residents. Traditional bread-making tools include a kneading trough, a flour sieve and a bread peel. The museum's local historical material also includes stories, proverbs, local customs and community events.

Several sheds with thatched roofs stand on the slopes near Dealul Geoagiului and Iliești. There is a sport climbing area in Cheile Găldiței.

Peștera Bisericuța is 320 metres long; archaeological excavations there uncovered traces of human presence dating from the Neolithic. It contains stalagmites, stalactites, columns and moonmilk formations. In the Middle Ages, it served as a refuge for the shepherds of Ciumerna, and in times of hardship it was used as a church.

The fifth edition of “Drag de Întregalde” took place in 2026. The cultural festival was held on 22 and 23 August 2026 at the civic centre of Întregalde and several other locations in the municipality, featuring music, theatre, crafts and children's workshops.

The local traditions mentioned for Întregalde include Colindatul and “Jocul cu Capra”.
