Gruta das Agulhas was formed from lava flows from the eruption of Pico do Refugo, which flowed down to the sea. Arcadas do Porto Judeu is a dive site in a small bay near the fishing harbour of Porto Judeu, opposite the Ilhéus das Cabras. The site is sheltered, the water is shallow there and the currents are weak. Its festivals in honour of the Holy Spirit take place on the Sundays of Pentecost and Trinity. Volcanic Landscape on Terceira

Algar do Carvão is classified as a natural monument by Parque Natural da Terceira and is also a geosite of Geoparque dos Açores.

Access to Algar do Carvão is restricted. A walking route connecting the natural monuments Algar do Carvão and Furnas do Enxofre is also relevant for finding your way around the island.
