Culture and History

Giławy is home to the Church of Saint John the Baptist, a red-brick church in the Neo-Gothic style, built between 1896 and 1898. Giławy was founded in 1407. The first recorded name was Sirwithen; in 1441, the settlement was re-founded under the name Giław.
