Czarne: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture and History
Czarne is home to the monument commemorating the Battle of Czarne in 1627. The town is also home to the Parish Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, an 18th-century sacred building constructed using traditional half-timbered techniques. It is distinguished by its well-preserved architectural form.
Czarne Castle was built between 1395 and 1403 on an irregular trapezoidal ground plan with a tower. A moat, fragments of the defensive walls and bastions have survived from its medieval fortifications. Until the middle of the 15th century, the castle was under the rule of the Teutonic Order.
Stalag II-B was a German prisoner-of-war camp from the Second World War and is associated with present-day Czarne. Czarne also has information boards about the prisoner-of-war camps.
Water and Trails
The Sporysz–Lubnica section of the canoeing trail on the Czernica is of medium difficulty. The canoeing trail on the Czernica reaches Czarne, the largest settlement along the route. At the mill in the centre of Czarne, kayaks must be carried around an obstacle on the canoeing trail.
Czarne has a cycling route around the town named after Hetman Stanisław Koniecpolski. The 35.5-kilometre “Hetmana Koniecpolskiego” cycling route runs from Człuchów through several intermediate locations to Czarne. Czarne also has a promenade along the Czernica River named after Hetman Stanisław Koniecpolski.
