Polnica: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Polnica is situated in an area characterized by forests and lakes, on the edge of the Bory Tucholskie forest and the Zaborski Landscape Park. Anyone planning a stay in Polnica may wish to rent a holiday apartment for this purpose.

Nature

Lake Gostudno covers 46.38 hectares and is fed by the Czerwonka River. On the eastern shore, there is a car park, a beach, a bathing jetty and an area for recreation. The lake is located about 1 km from Polnica and is best reached via unpaved roads from Polnica or Polniczka.

Culture and History

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Polnica was built in 1780–1781 and is the oldest surviving church in the Człuchów municipality. It contains an 18th-century altar with sculptures of Saint Joseph and Saint John of Nepomuk. Wall paintings depicting King David and Saint Stanislaus the Bishop have been preserved on the vault of the nave. The church also has 18th-century Rococo furnishings and a pulpit supported by an angel figure.

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Polnica dates back to a church built in the 16th century. It was initially Protestant, became Catholic in 1617, and in 1789 received a new nave and chancel attached to the surviving wooden tower.

The former Protestant Church of Saint Joseph in Polnica was built in 1912. Its single-nave interior is richly decorated with paintings and has two galleries.

Activities

Bicycle Route No. 5 of Człuchów County, the “Chrobotkowa” route, runs through Przechlewo, Imielno, Płaszczyca, Polnica and Człuchów. It is 20.3 km long. The 36.8 km-long Bicycle Route No. 9, “Niedzielna,” runs from Człuchów via Polnica, Czarnoszyce, Charzykowy, Nieżywięć and Krzyżanki back to Człuchów.

At U Garncarza in Polnica, guests can enjoy recreational horseback riding, sleigh rides in winter and making a traditional clay vessel on a potter’s wheel.
