Planeta Zalesie in Zalesie Górne is a place for family recreation and leisure activities. Its main attraction is Dzielnica Filmowa, an amusement and educational park. Nearby, Zimne Doły has 13 recreational shelters, including two large ones, fire pits, a woodland playground, an observation tower and a car park. A hub for hiking routes and trails is also located there. Check which facilities are currently open before visiting.
Chojnowski Landscape Park has seven marked hiking trails and a network of educational trails for walkers and cyclists. The park’s 11 nature reserves may only be visited via existing paths and marked trails. At the ponds in Żabieniec, you may spot, among other species, goosanders, black-necked grebes, red-necked grebes, little grebes, teal, bearded reedlings, penduline tits and black storks.
A county guide from 2019 describes the Małpi Gaj adventure ropes course in a clearing between Żabieniec and Zalesie Górne as featuring rope courses among tall trees, a zip line, climbing opportunities and rope descents. Check in advance whether it is currently operating. This lets you choose between nearby recreational activities and an outing focused on nature trails, without treating them as the same experience.
Routes in the Wider Piaseczyński Destination
For an overview of longer routes, the wider Piaseczyński destination offers a range of lengths and itineraries. The 28-kilometre yellow-marked Szlak Południkowy (Meridian Trail) runs from Piaseczno railway station via Zalesie Dolne, Górki Szymona, Zimne Doły and Zalesie Górne, then past the Łoś nature reserve and Nowy Prażmów to Prażmów. The 30-kilometre Szlak rezerwatów przyrody (Nature Reserves Trail) connects Zalesie Górne and Zimne Doły with the Uroczysko Stephana, Chojnów, Obory, Skarpa Oborska, Olszyna Łyczyńska and Łęgi Oborskie nature reserves, as well as Konstancin-Jeziorna, and continues on to Ursynów. A shorter regional route is the 10-kilometre Chojnowski szlak zabytków przyrody (Chojnów Nature Monuments Trail), which passes through the Chojnów, Pilawski Grąd and Uroczysko Stephana nature reserves. The different lengths and itineraries help you choose a route to suit the distance you have in mind.
Tradition and Architecture in Zalesie Górne
The community event Święto Pieczonego Ziemniaka (Roast Potato Festival) has been organised by the Zalesie Górne village council since 2010. It takes place at the Domanka recreation and sports ground. The festival adds a local community event to the range of leisure activities; no specific date for a future edition has been announced.
The parish church also offers a distinctive architectural feature: the modern brick building has a wooden ceiling. Its western side aisle forms a small historic church built of pine wood in 1938–39. Different building styles and periods thus meet within the church.
In the wider Piaseczyński destination, the medieval Gothic castle of Czersk offers another historical highlight. Duke Janusz the Elder had it built around the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries on the site of an earlier fortification. At the eastern foot of the castle lies Jezioro Czerskie, a former Vistula oxbow lake that is entirely protected as a natural monument. These attractions belong to the wider region and are not features of Zalesie Górne itself.
