Landscapes among oak stands and bodies of water

The Chmiel Nature Reserve in the municipality of Jabłonna protects a 200-year-old oak stand. Walking and cycling are among the activities suited to the area. If you would rather discover nature through its habitats and bodies of water, the “Kozi Bór” Protected Landscape Area in the municipality of Garbów offers a different focus: the area includes the Rejowiec and Duży Ług bodies of water, as well as habitats for rare plants and animals.

The terrain also gives the landscape its own character. The municipality of Niedrzwica Duża lies at the transition between the Bełżyce Plain and the Urzędów Hills, resulting in varied terrain. The Zalew Bychawski reservoir and numerous fishing waters are located in the municipality of Bychawa. Together, these places showcase different aspects of the region—from its ancient oak stand and protected habitats to landscapes shaped by water and terrain.

Cycling routes and trails as an outing theme

The approximately 30 km “Doliną Nędznicy” cycling route follows the Nędznica River and passes landscape features, flora and fauna, as well as numerous historic sites. Its approximate length gives you a concrete reference point for planning a day out; the combination of nature and history also makes the route an interesting option.

An approximately 37 km cycling route runs through the municipality of Głusk and connects to the Lublin Cycling Route. There are also several hiking trails in the municipality. The municipality of Jastków has two cycling routes. If cycling is important to your travel plans, you can take these different details into account when choosing your accommodation and destinations, without comparing the routes solely by their length.

Blacksmithing, buildings and collections

Wojciechów is an important centre for blacksmithing: national workshops, fairs and festivals devoted to the craft are held there every year. The municipality also welcomes participants in the Ogólnopolskie Spotkania Kowali every two years. The Museum of Blacksmithing offers organised groups a history lesson on Polish craftsmanship and guided tours. The exhibits and workshop items mentioned include an old forge, tools, horseshoes, replicas of medieval weapons and artistic metalwork.

The Ariańska Tower offers another glimpse into Wojciechów’s history. Built in 1520–1530, it is the only Gothic-Renaissance building of its kind in the Lublin region. In its tower vestibule, the Skansen Wsi Głuseckiej open-air museum houses around 80 historic objects illustrating domestic and rural life in the Lublin region in the past. Those interested in crafts and everyday history will find two different perspectives here: metalwork and tools on the one hand, and objects from earlier daily life on the other.

Wojciechów is also home to a museum of minerals, fossils and meteorites at Młyn Hipolit, with more than 5,000 exhibits. The Jabłonna palace and park complex is located in the municipality of Jabłonna. The war cemetery in Jastków commemorates the soldiers of the 4th Infantry Regiment of the Legions who fell in the Battle of Jastków in 1915. These sites appeal to different historical interests—from buildings and museums to remembrance of those killed in war.

In Łysaków, in the municipality of Wólka, a ten-metre-high observation tower with a telescope stands on a steep slope above the Bystrzyca Valley. At the Radawiec model airfield in the municipality of Konopnica, the Aeroklub Lubelski operates a model aircraft section. In the municipality of Niemce, the Dyssov craft distillery produces spirits and beer brandies and offers tours of the historic mill.
