Konradów: Village History in the Mountains

Mountain Setting and Historic Excursion Routes

Konradów is located in the mountains. The village also played a role in the history of travel, as a destination and a place to pass through: in the second half of the 19th century, it had the character of a summer resort and lay along tourist routes from Lądek to Przełęcz Puchaczówka and Śnieżnik. This gives an impression of how Konradów’s mountain setting was already important for stays and travel in the surrounding area at that time.

For a specific cycling trip, there is Route 5716, which is 30.3 km long. It runs from Lądek via Radochów, Trzebieszowice, Biała Lądecka and Konradów to Kąty Bystrzyckie and back to Lądek. Its total length and route make it a clearly defined option for planning a day out.

Church and Architectural History

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a defining part of Konradów’s architectural history. The tower was added first, in 1786. The main structure was then demolished and rebuilt between 1804 and 1806. Architecturally, the church represents the late Baroque period in the Kłodzko region and its traditionalist direction. Its furnishings include a Baroque high altar dating from 1751. The architectural and decorative polychrome interior was created in the late 19th or early 20th century.

The different periods give the building a layered history: the altar dates from the 18th century, while the interior design was added later. Visitors interested in church art and regional architecture will find several specific features to focus on here.

Village Centre and Rural Architectural Styles

The Dwór sędziowski stands in the centre of the village. The present building was created in the first quarter of the 18th century by remodelling an older residential and farm building. Like the church, it is representative of the local Baroque architecture of the Kłodzko region and its strongly traditionalist direction. Together, the two buildings offer different examples of regional architecture: the church, with its long building history and furnishings, and a remodelled residential and farm building in the village centre.

Traditional rural buildings have also been preserved beyond these structures. They include houses with cross-vaulted rooms, houses with wooden upper storeys that were later bricked in, and buildings with verandas. The old churchyard has an oval layout and is enclosed by a stone wall. A cemetery chapel dating from the second quarter of the 19th century exemplifies a simple, functional local building style in the neoclassical style. There are also crucifixes and crosses, including crosses dating from 1829, along the cemetery wall; roadside shrines, religious figures and wayside crosses have also been preserved in Konradów and its immediate surroundings.

Animal Encounters and Activities to Enjoy Together

Alpaka Konradów offers walks with alpacas and encounters with various animals. These include mountain goats, donkeys, peacocks, rabbits and lemurs. The “Spacery z Alpakami i Mini Zoo” attraction at Konradów 12 also features two ponies and four dwarf goats. Depending on your interests, you can focus your group outing more on the walk or on the animals.
