Poręba: Cycling Routes, Mountain Pass and Historic Traces
Accommodation in Poręba
Valley and pass define Poręba
Poręba lies in the Porębnik Valley, which cuts into the Bystrzyckie Mountains towards the 690-metre-high Przełęcz nad Porębą Pass. Cycling routes run through the village, and a signposted walking route connects Długopole-Zdrój with the pass via Poręba. There are also historic landmarks in the village and its surroundings. When planning your trip, you can choose between longer cycling tours, a hike, and cultural and historical sights.

Cycling through Poręba
A cycling route of about 37 kilometres begins in Bystrzyca Kłodzka and runs through Stara Bystrzyca, Wójtowice, Młoty, Spalona and Poręba to Długopole-Zdrój. From there, it returns to Bystrzyca Kłodzka. Poręba is therefore part of a route that connects several villages along the way and returns to its starting point. The distance gives you a clear indication if you would like to plan a longer cycling trip during your stay.
A second cycling route is about 45 kilometres long and runs from Bystrzyca Kłodzka to Długopole-Zdrój through Poręba. It initially follows the international ER 2 cycle route; from Poręba, it continues along a green trail. Unlike the approximately 37-kilometre loop, this route is described as a journey between two named places. If you would like to include cycling stages in your trip, you can take this information into account when choosing your destination.
Walk up to the pass
The Długopole-Zdrój–Poręba–Przełęcz nad Porębą route is designated as a 5.5-kilometre walking trail with a walking time of 1 hour and 45 minutes. It reaches the 690-metre-high Przełęcz nad Porębą Pass, whose surroundings are considered especially scenic. Unlike the cycling routes, this is a specific walking route with a named destination in the mountains.
For finding your way along the route, it is important to note that it is not signposted; access is via a road. If you include this hike in your trip, you can factor the distance and walking time into your daily plans. These details also clearly distinguish the walking route from the two longer cycling routes: the focus here is on a specific path to the pass and its stated walking time.
Church and historic traces
The Church of St. Sebastian stands in Poręba. It is protected as a historic monument and is included in the register of monuments and the list of historic monuments. Right next to the church is a stone Calvary group dating from the 18th or 19th century. Those interested in religious architecture and sculpture will find two distinct landmarks in the village: the protected church and the stone group beside it.
Another historic marker in Poręba is a penitential cross. The area around the pass also bears traces of the past: north and south of Przełęcz nad Porębą, the remains of two small combat bunkers lie hidden in the vegetation. They were built by the Germans in the 1930s. These places and objects add their own points of interest alongside the cycling and walking routes; the bunkers are remains concealed by vegetation.
You can choose a holiday apartment in Poręba to suit the focus of your trip: longer cycling routes, the walking trail to the pass, or cultural and historical sights in the village and its surroundings.
