Dzierżawy offers several ways to explore its local history: hiking trails lead through the village, the Church of Divine Mercy is associated with a specifically named building material, and a Neolithic settlement site points to a much earlier period. This gives holidaymakers two distinct focuses: walking along designated routes or exploring the history of buildings and settlements.

Hiking Trails through Dzierżawy

There are two different length figures for the yellow Saint Faustina Kowalska hiking trail. The municipal tourist route lists it as 9.2 km and runs through Kiki, Dzierżawy, Ner-Parcel and Ner, continuing to ul. Spółdzielcza in Wartkowice and on to Stary Gostków. A regional tourism description lists the yellow “Św. Faustyny Kowalskiej” hiking trail as 28.8 km, runs through Dzierżawy and also describes it as suitable for cycling. When planning, check which route description you are using.

The blue “Marii Konopnickiej” hiking trail is 11.9 km long and runs through Bronów, Konopnica, Światonia, Zacisze, Brudnówek, Mrówna, Kiki, Dzierżawy and Saków. Compared with the municipal figure for the yellow trail, it is 2.7 km longer. Its length and listed stops provide concrete points of comparison when choosing between the two routes. Before setting out on the blue trail, check the current waymarking and trail conditions.

Churches, Building Materials and Local History

The Roman Catholic Church of Divine Mercy in Dzierżawy was built from chalk marl. The rock comes from a quarry in the village of Rożniatowice in Bełchatów County and is also known as Rożniatowice stone. This links the building material to a specific place of origin, offering a tangible way to explore the village’s architectural history.

A second church is the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is listed in the register of immovable monuments of the Łódź Voivodeship. The Neolithic settlement site in Dzierżawy adds a prehistoric perspective to the later buildings. It has not been attributed to a specific culture. Together with the two churches, it offers a broad view of the village over time, from a Neolithic settlement to its architectural history.

The rock also has regional significance: in the surrounding area, locals call chalk marl “opoka”; numerous houses in the area around Uniejów were built from this stone. This comparison puts the history of the material into a wider context: chalk marl is found both in connection with a church building and in regional residential architecture.

Plan a Hiking or Cultural Holiday

If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Dzierżawy, your preferred focus for the trip can help you choose where to stay. For a more active stay, you can compare the hiking trails by their lengths and listed stops; if you are interested in cultural history, the focus is on the chalk marl construction, the church listed in the monument register and the Neolithic site. If you would like to combine both, you can include hikes and cultural attractions in your holiday plans.
