If you prefer to get around on two wheels, you will find the Zygmunt Goliat cycling route at the Sulejów Reservoir. It is about 15 kilometres long within the municipality of Sulejów. The Pilica itself is also an option for a kayaking trip: a 45-kilometre stretch of the river can be explored by kayak. This distance refers to the Pilica, not to the cycling route by the reservoir.
The Cieszanowice Reservoir also shapes the local leisure landscape. It covers 260 hectares and is also a habitat for rare birds, including the common tern, little tern and common ringed plover. If you want to focus on wildlife observation and relaxation, this offers a different theme from the water sports described at the Sulejów Reservoir.
Monastery complexes and historic buildings
The Cistercian monastery complex in Sulejów Podklasztorze is an important destination for anyone interested in architectural history. The Cistercian abbey is one of Poland’s most valuable historic buildings and is of great artistic, historical and scientific importance. The complex was recognised as a Monument of History of Poland by an ordinance of the President of the Republic of Poland dated 22 October 2012. The historic Cistercian Route and the historic Piast Romanesque Route also meet in Sulejów Podklasztorze.
The Bishop’s Palace in Wolbórz offers a different historical perspective. Built between 1768 and 1773 in the late Baroque style, it served as the summer residence of the Bishops of Kuyavia. In Skotniki stands the wooden Church of the Immaculate Conception, built in 1528. The larch-wood church and its wooden bell tower are listed in the voivodeship register of monuments and are of regional significance.
In Witów, remnants recall the former Norbertine abbey, founded in 1179. These include a Baroque church and a historic gate tower dating from the 15th century. Together with the monastery complex in Sulejów and the palace in Wolbórz, this site offers another way to explore the region’s history.

In Bogusławice, the Stado Ogierów stud farm combines horse-related experiences with a range of activities, including riding lessons, recreational riding, carriage rides and guided tours of the stud farm. Riding lessons are held daily and cater to all experience levels, including beginner courses and lunge lessons. Pony leading is available for younger children. When planning your day, you can choose between riding yourself, taking a ride or joining a guided visit.
Nature, art and regional specialities
The Jodły Lubiaszów nature reserve is located near Lubiaszów, in the southern part of the municipality of Wolbórz. It covers 202.4 hectares and protects a mixed forest with a high proportion of fir trees, as well as numerous protected plant species. Taraska offers another cultural highlight: in 2000, the Autorska Galeria Sztuki „Nad Czarną i Pilicą“ and an open-air museum were established there. Both belong to the artist Zdzisław Wojciech Słomka and display his works in a century-old cottage, an outbuilding and a garden.
Regional products are also among the discoveries to be made: in Kłudzice, you can try the local “Partisan bread” and ice cream made according to a house recipe, including at local events and festivals. Both products are made at Kłudzice 45A.
