The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Błonie was built from 1913 to 1916 and consecrated in 1923. It was designed by Józef Pius Dziekoński.
The building is brick-built, faces east and has a single nave, following the Neo-Baroque style. The nave, presbytery and apses of the transept have star vaults; barrel vaults are located above the gallery and the vestibule.
The furnishings include an embroidered chasuble from the 17th century, a Rococo monstrance from the mid-17th century and Baroque tin chandeliers. The parish indulgence day is the Sunday after the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
History
Błonie is mentioned in a document from 1235. It describes the transfer of the village by Gumbert, the Archdeacon of Kraków, to the Cistercian monastery in Wąchock.
The parish in Błonie was founded in 1373 by the Archbishop of Gniezno. At its foundation, a wooden larch church dedicated to All Saints was endowed; it existed for 600 years.
Finds from the Błonie burial ground indicate links to the local cultural environment and contacts with western areas.
Błonie is also home to an outbuilding from the mid-19th century that formerly belonged to Wilhelm Orsetti. It is a brick-built, single-storey structure with a converted attic and a half-hipped roof.
Nature
The former “Błonie” nature reserve was located in the vicinity of the village of Błonie. It covered 20.74 ha, was established in 1977 to protect halophilic vegetation and was abolished by Order No. 40/2013 of the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Łódź dated 26 June 2013.
