Jaroszowice: Forests, Trails and Chapels

Jaroszowice lies on the northern slopes of Jaroszowicka Góra in the eastern part of the Little Beskids. A considerable part of the area is covered by forests. There is also a pilgrimage route, marked trails and chapels in the village. If you would like to combine experiences in nature with insights into local history during your holiday, Jaroszowice offers a variety of ways to do so.

Woodland scenery and mountain trails

A clearly marked yellow-and-black trail begins beyond the bridge over the Skawa in Jaroszowice. From there, it takes about 1.5 hours to reach the summit of Jaroszowicka Góra, at 541 metres above sea level. The approximate time and summit elevation give you concrete details for this hike. The Romea Strata pilgrimage route also passes through Jaroszowice. Its 20-kilometre section within the municipality of Wadowice runs through Jaroszowice, Wadowice, Chocznia, Zawadka and Ponikiew. One of two new information boards along this section stands in the part of Jaroszowice; the other is in the part of Ponikiew. Within the municipality, Romea Strata also passes over Jaroszowicka Góra, among other places.

Cycling and singletrack trails

For a cycling trip, consider the route marked “Czarny”: it runs from Wadowice through Zawadka and Jaroszowice to Klecza Dolna and is 9.5 kilometres long. Knowing its length and the places it passes through makes it easier to factor into your trip planning.

The modern Wadowice Trails singletrack complex has opened near Jaroszowice, on the slopes of Jaroszowicka Góra. It includes an uphill route and four downhill trails. The options range from an easy family route to a trail for experts. If you are travelling with different ideas about the level of difficulty, you can take this range into account when choosing a suitable trail. Powsinoga is an uphill route along the western slopes of Jaroszowicka Góra to the summit of the complex.

A designated car park in the Jaroszowicka Góra area serves as the starting point for Wadowice Trails. From there, visitors continue by bike to the trails. Walks are also held in the Jaroszowicka Góra area as part of the Carpathian Local Initiative “Let’s Get to Know the Nature of the Beskids”.

Chapels in the village

The chapels also give Jaroszowice a tangible sense of its history. A chapel in the centre, with a 19th-century figure of Christ at the Pillar, stands on the road to Wadowice. The village also has a brick chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, dating from the first half of the 19th century.

In the centre, beside a wooden house, stands a pillar chapel with a figure of Our Lady of the Rosary and a stone cross; it dates from 1903. These small structures and the trails described here offer different ways to experience the village: during your stay, you can focus on the woodland and mountain scenery or include the chapels and pilgrimage route in your explorations.
