History

Archaeological work in Wojnowice has revealed early settlement traces dating from the Neolithic period. From the 18th century until 1939, the village belonged to the estate of the Mielżyński family, the owners of Dakowy Mokre. Kazimierz Raczyński was born in Wojnowice in 1739.

From 10 June 1919, the 1st Wielkopolska Squadron was stationed on the grounds of the estate for several months. It consisted of seven reconnaissance aircraft.

Townscape and Culture

The Church of Saint Brother Albert Chmielowski in Wojnowice was built between 1986 and 1990. The Parish of Saint Brother Albert Chmielowski is also located in Wojnowice, at 20 Kanałowa Street, 64-330 Opalenica.

On Łagiewska Street, on the other side of the river in the direction of Łagiew, a former manor house dating from the mid-19th century has been preserved. It has a brick-and-timber-frame construction, a mansard roof and a dormer. The large trees near the former manor house are remnants of a park that once existed there.

Transport Routes

Voivodeship Road No. 307 between Poznań and Nowy Tomyśl passes through Wojnowice. Before the Second World War, a narrow-gauge railway line approximately 8 km long began here and ran via Szewce and Uścięcice to Dakowy Mokre.

Leisure

A new village playground was opened in Wojnowice in 2024. Its facilities include swings, sandpits, a locomotive with a slide and tunnel, table football, and a zip line.
