Hjelset: Beach, Sauna and Skjevik Local Community Park
Accommodation in Hjelset
Hjelset offers several reasons to stay: Hjelsetstranda has a beach and is an outdoor recreation area; Skjevik Local Community Park combines trails used seasonally with other activities. There is also a sauna at Hjelsetstranda, as well as disc golf, a pump track and an obstacle course in the park. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Hjelset, you can consider whether the beach and sauna culture or the activities in the park will shape your stay more.
Beach and sauna at Hjelsetstranda
In addition to the beach, Hjelsetstranda has a marina, a fire pit and a parking area for motorhomes. It is an outdoor recreation area and a joint project by Hjelset og Skjevik Velforening, Fannefjorden Småbåtforening and IL Hjelsetfram. A special feature at the same location is the sauna, commercially operated by Folevarmt. It combines traditional sauna culture with seawater right outside the sauna. The beach and sauna therefore appeal to different interests, while the marina and fire pit are other features of Hjelsetstranda.
Trails and activities at Skjevik Local Community Park
Skjevik Local Community Park has a lit short trail and a longer trail. In summer, they are used for exercise; in winter, as cross-country ski trails. The park is also home to Snipa DiskGolfPark, also known as Skjevik Frisbeegolfpark. Five beginner disc golf sets are available to borrow if you would like to try the course. A pump track built by Fannefjorden Sykkelklubb adds to the activities. There is also an obstacle course in the forest behind Building 2, formerly Vikamyra.
In the Friplassen area, there is an ice rink in winter. The Ingolfbua shelter provides cover for 10 to 15 people and is open to everyone. The park offers several specific activities: you can choose one of the trails, disc golf, the pump track or the obstacle course. In winter, the trails used for cross-country skiing and the ice rink are additional options.
