Lansingerland: holiday apartments and holiday homes

Hoge Bergse Bos features an artificial outdoor ski slope, a mountain bike course and a 34-metre-high climbing hill. Annie M.G. Schmidtpark also makes a striking impression. The 3.5-kilometre-long city park, covering approximately 60 hectares, lies on the border between Berkel en Rodenrijs and Bergschenhoek.

Nature and open space

At Annie M.G. Schmidtpark, you can go for a walk, cycle, play sports and relax. The park also includes the nature-oriented Tuin van Floddertje and a skate park. The Rottemeren nature and recreation areas are accessible year-round. There, you can sail, canoe, go mountain biking, climb, ski, fish, ride a pedal boat and go for walks.

The Rottemeren combine rugged hills and park-like forests with nature, open space and plenty of water. There is also increasing bird diversity. Lage Bergse Bos was designed in a romantic English landscape style and includes ponds, winding paths and islands. Groenzoom features walking trails as well as routes for cycling, canoeing and horse riding.

Groenzoom is a 450-hectare nature and recreation area between Lansingerland and Pijnacker-Nootdorp. It forms a green buffer zone between the built-up areas and connects Midden-Delfland with the Groene Hart. In Zuidpolder, there are rambling paths, a dog-walking trail and the Polderpad; benches complement the paths. Natuurmonumenten's Melkschuur Zuidpolder serves as an information point there.

Getting around

The Polderpad is a cycling and walking route between the Schie and Rotte rivers. North of the A16 tunnel, it forms a continuous cycling connection within Lansingerland's green, ecological and recreational network. It runs through the centre of four green dry polders with birds, livestock, farms, dykes and pumping stations.

Lansingerland is one of the four municipalities improving the 20-kilometre Delft–Rotterdam-Alexander Metropolitan Cycling Route. The route connects Delft and Rotterdam-Alexander railway stations. Near Rodenrijs station, it connects to the Zoetermeer–Rotterdam cycling route.

Rodenrijs stop is equipped as a Groene Halte, with signposting to routes and excursion destinations in the surrounding natural polders. Groene Halte Rodenrijs also has signposting, a water filling point and benches. A 3- to 5-kilometre circular route starts at or near the stop.

Agriculture and culinary delights

A dairy farm is open to the public and offers the opportunity to see up close how the milking robot works. At Boerderij Het Lansingerland, the terrace and lunchroom serve lunch, coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer and wine. From the lunchroom, you can look out over the cows in the barn.

The Farm Safari is a walking activity in the countryside whose route starts at Boerderij Het Lansingerland. On the Farm Safari, you receive a backpack with a drink and an apple, as well as a guidebook containing questions, assignments and interesting facts.

History and places

Molen de Valk is a Rijksmonument dating from 1772. Together with three mills each in the Westpolder and Noordpolder, it pumped water from the drained Noord-, West- and Zuidpolder of Berkel via the Zweth into the Schie. Molen de Valk is the only mill in Lansingerland whose main body and sails have survived.

The tower of the Dorpskerk in Berkel en Rodenrijs is the oldest surviving structure in the village. The Dorpskerk preserves a pulpit from the 17th century, copper chandeliers, a clock mechanism from the 17th century and an organ case from the 18th century.

In Bleiswijk stands the Tuinderschoorsteen, an 18-metre-high structure from the greenhouse horticulture industry dating from 1952, built from specially fired red radial bricks. The Bleiswijkse Verlaat, a lock dating from around 1774, is also located there. It was largely renewed in 1972 and fully restored in 2015.

The Polderhuis in Bergschenhoek is a Rijksmonument dating from 1906, with Art Nouveau influences. Since its renovation in 1996, the Polderhuis has housed a music school and a cultural centre.
