Beerzerveld between peat colony and buildings

Beerzerveld developed as a peat colony on the southeastern side of the Beerzerzand after the Overijssels Kanaal was dug in 1858. At Westerweg 39 stands the Hervormde Kerk Beerzerveld, a Neoclassical hall church with an entrance front and a plastered façade tower with a recessed spire dating from 1901. The Beerzerveld vicarage at Westerweg 40 dates from 1905.

Further architectural traces can be found along various roads in the village: Hof Oldambt at Stenendijk 5 is a modern head-and-body farm dating from around 1930. The bridge over the Overijssels Kanaal at Westerdijk is a lift bridge dating from around 1910. Together with its origins as a peat colony, this creates a village landscape in which canal history, agriculture and ecclesiastical architecture stand side by side.

Festivals and activities with their own rhythm

The Zomarfeest in Beerzerveld reached its 20th edition in 2024. Starting as a one-day festival in 2002, it developed into an event that normally lasts three days. From the beginning, the Zomarfeest has been aimed at Beerzerveld, Mariënberg and Beerze; visitors from outside the villages are also welcome.

The De BuitenPartij programme includes courses, social evenings and in-depth workshops. De BuitenPartij's Buitendans offering takes place outdoors with music and accompaniment and is suitable for people with or without dance experience. De BuitenPartij's retro mini-golf course can be reserved for groups, including a package with coffee or tea and cake or a drink.

Getting there and choosing a holiday apartment

Beerzerveld is served by EBS neighbourhood bus route 597 on a fixed route according to the timetable. The route runs Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:50 a.m. to 6 p.m. In Mariënberg, you can change to the Blauwnet Vechtdallijnen RE20/RS20 towards Emmen or Zwolle, or RS21 towards Almelo.
