Sint Maartenszee: Beach, Dunes and Wildrijk
Accommodation in Sint Maartenszee
If you are planning your holiday in a holiday apartment in Sint Maartenszee, beach, dunes and nature experiences come together. Sint Maartenszee lies at the foot of the dunes. The Sint Maartenszee bathing area has two main beach access paths: “Sint Maartenszee Zuid” and “Sint Maartenszee Noord”. This means that the beach and dunes, as closely connected yet differently experienced aspects of the village, are central to your planning.

Holiday apartment in Sint Maartenszee: Beach and dunes
There are precise access regulations for days at the beach. The beach access points in Sint Maartenszee are accessible exclusively to pedestrians, cyclists and people with an exemption permit; cars may not drive there unless they are operated by holders of such a permit. This regulation is therefore one of the practical points you can take into account when choosing your holiday apartment and planning your day. For a day at the beach, travelling on foot or by bicycle is therefore just as relevant as having an exemption permit.
Spring landscape and Wildrijk
The dunes behind the Sint Maartenszee bathing area are part of the “Zwanenwater en Petterduinen” Natura 2000 area. In the surroundings of Sint Maartenszee, crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths and tulips bloom successively in the fields in spring. This sequence makes the season a unique experience of the landscape. If you choose your accommodation based on the holiday experiences you are looking for, this alternation between the dune landscape and spring fields may be an interesting factor in deciding between days at the beach and observing nature.
Wildrijk offers a walking experience lasting about an hour, especially in spring. In spring, the forest floor of Wildrijk is covered with a blue carpet of wild hyacinths. Wildrijk was protected through purchase in 1940. Anyone who enjoys planning their holiday days around a manageable nature programme can include this approximate duration and the striking display of flowers when considering their accommodation.
Water in the dunes
Water also shapes the landscape of Sint Maartenszee. On both sides of the Zeeweg, very clean water flows through the Duinrellen from the freshwater lens in the dunes. The water from the Duinrellen is channelled into the nearby Wildrijk nature reserve through a specially constructed connecting ditch. The banks of the Duinrellen in Sint Maartenszee have been ecologically designed. In this way, the natural area is visible not only along the shoreline, but also in its waterways and transitions to the reserve.
Experiences with different focuses
Two additional destinations expand the options for families and varied interests. Land van Fluwel has a barefoot trail. Land van Fluwel is easily accessible by bicycle or car. Speelpark De Goudvis has three covered play paradises with a total of more than 2,200 m² of covered play area. The barefoot trail and the covered play paradises offer different focuses for a day of holiday. When choosing a holiday apartment, you can therefore consider whether to focus on dunes and nature, the spring walking experience or the play area at De Goudvis.
