One of the defining buildings is the Margarethakerk. It dates from the second half of the 13th century and is a late Romanesque hall church with a simple gabled roof tower, an altered nave and a narrower, rounded chancel. The church is also regularly used as a venue for classical concerts. De Hoop in Norg is likewise part of the village’s history: the mill was built in 1857 as a flour mill for Harmannus Beins. In the village centre, there are several traditional brinks which, together with the historic buildings, give the village its own distinctive character.

The Norger Esdorpenlandschap consists of drift-sand forests and the stream valleys of the Slokkert, the Grote Diep and the Oostervoortse Diep. At Natuurplaats Noordsche Veld, you can pick up various hiking routes during opening hours, including a marked purple route of 6 kilometres and a yellow route of 13 kilometres. In the Norger Esdorpenlandschap, it is also possible to take an approximately 2.5-hour excursion with a forester, during which you can learn interesting facts about the area’s animals, plants and history.

For a longer cycling tour, the 55-kilometre Drenthe Periphery Route 10 Norg is a good option. It starts and ends at the Oosteind/Peesterstraat junction in Norg. The routes of the Worteldagen festival take visitors on foot or by bicycle, accompanied by guides, to four locations where performances lasting 7 to 10 minutes each take place. The festival presents theatre and visual art at intimate indoor and outdoor locations in the village of Norg. As a weather-independent alternative, Molenduinbad Norg has a 25-metre pool, a 30-metre slide, a lazy river, a leisure pool and a spa bench. During opening hours, recreational swimming is available there for children and adults.

Norg is served by QBuzz bus route 83 and Arriva bus route 84. Free parking is also available, including a large car park near the Brinkhof. For event planning, the association’s Nationaal tuigpaardenconcours may be of interest: it was first held in 1978 at the sports field on Schapendrift. The evening concours on 28 July 2026 is scheduled from 16:00 to 22:30.
