The “Discover Ettelbruck on foot” walking tour covers 2.2 km through the old town and pedestrian zone. With 15 information panels, it tells the story of the town from 901 AD to the present day. One of the notable stops is the fresco at Place de la Libération, created in 2017 by the French self-taught artist Mantra. With photographs, documents and authentic objects, the General Patton Memorial Museum focuses on the German invasion of Luxembourg in May 1940, the occupation, the liberation by American troops in September 1944 and the post-war years.

Hiking trails between viewpoints and nature experiences

For longer hikes, the Escapardenne Lee Trail covers 53 km and more than 2,000 metres of elevation gain. Narrow paths, rocky ridges and views of the Sûre characterise this trail. Those who prefer a shorter route can plan the ET1 hiking trail: it begins in Warken and is 4.74 km long. The ET1 includes the Kalleksuewen viewpoint, which offers a panorama over the Alzette Valley.

There are also various opportunities to experience nature mindfully around Haff Ditgesbaach. The educational trail is a 3 km circular route with ten discovery stations focusing on the biodiversity of local orchards. The “Um Kalléksuewen” educational trail is 5.8 km long and leads to the ruins of former limestone quarries. These different routes allow you to adapt your daily plans to the desired length and focus of the tour without losing sight of the town’s history or cultural offerings.

Regional products and special events

The Ettelbrück agricultural fair also reflects the local character. It takes place on the first weekend of July on the Deich meadows. Farmers, foresters, gardeners, winegrowers and scientific researchers present their products and expertise there.
