Enscherange lies between wooded ridges that enclose the valley on three sides. These clear trail signs make it easier to find your way along the route without requiring you to follow a particular direction of travel.

KI 1 also provides specific information for reaching the starting point. The nearest bus stop is “Bei Steckech”, 70 m away. There is also a car park directly at the trailhead. The information refers to the starting point of KI 1; the same conditions do not automatically apply to KI 3.

Historic traces in the village

Enscherange has several noteworthy buildings and memorial sites. Enscheringen Castle was built at the end of the 17th century. It is privately owned and, unfortunately, can only be viewed from the outside. It is therefore primarily suitable as an exterior sightseeing stop on a walk, not for an interior visit.

The buildings of an old tannery stand at the entrance to the village. Another historic feature is the Rackésmillen: the watermill dates back to 1334 and is considered one of the oldest watermills in Luxembourg. It has also been turning with the flow of the Clerve for centuries. Anyone interested in crafts, historic utilitarian buildings and regional history can take these themes into account when putting together their excursions.

Sundial and views

The Kiischpelter Sun Circle adds an unusual geographical highlight. It is located at 50° north latitude and 6° east longitude. This is the only intersection of a line of latitude and a line of longitude in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. At this location, a sundial displays the true local time rather than CET (winter time) or CEST (summer time).

The views are also part of the experience: from the Kiischpelter Sun Circle, you can look south and southwest over Wilwerwiltz and the Klerf valley. The St Laurent Chapel overlooks Enscherange from a small hill and adds another distinctive landmark to the village landscape.
