On the left bank of the Nemunas near the settlement of Piliuona lies the Piliuonos botanical-zoological reserve. It preserves the lower terrace of the Nemunas Valley with flood meadows and wetlands. The protected area is home to rare bird species and their breeding grounds, including the pied avocet, ruff, common redshank and Eurasian curlew.

Culture
The Guogų–Piliuonos hillfort lies between Guogai and Piliuona, on the edge of the uplands on the left bank of the Nemunas. It dates from the 1st millennium to the beginning of the 2nd millennium. Its rampart was raised several times and its area expanded; remains of double wooden defensive walls were found along the edges.
The Piliuonos koplyčia chapel is located on the first floor inside a building. It is a cosy and modern space for prayer and spiritual reflection; its surroundings are suitable for both locals and visitors. The Birthday of Venus is an installation from 2022 on a water tower in Piliuona.
In the vicinity of Piliuona are V Kauno fortas and IV Kauno fortas, both fortresses. In the wider regional surroundings of Piliuona are the Kauno zoologijos sodas zoo, III Kauno fortas fortress and Kauno pilis castle. The parks Panemunės šilas, Gričiupio parkas and Ramybės parkas are also located in this wider regional area.

Forest Trail 62 reaches Piliuona from Pakuonis after 7 km. The route runs in the order Pakuonis – Piliuona – Dubravai – Vaišvydava.
