Discover Pesina Spezie: Gardens, Churches and Wine

Between Monte Baldo and Lake Garda lie the winery and vineyards of Cantina Gentili. Pesina is also home to the parish church, a Romanesque church, the small Oratorio di San Rocco and a public washhouse. At Casa Biasi, a romantic park and a Mediterranean garden are part of a complex featuring old and modern roses, citrus fruits, camellias, hellebores and hydrangeas.

Wine between Monte Baldo and Lake Garda

The winery offers the visit and tasting experience known as “Lake Garda Trip”. It lasts 1.5 hours, is intended for 2 to 20 people and includes four tastings. For day planning, this visit can be scheduled as a separate, time-limited segment; the group size ranges from 2 to 20 people.

The Garden of Casa Biasi

The Garden of Casa Biasi covers more than 16,000 square metres of calcareous soil and is home to a wide variety of herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees. The collections include old and modern roses, citrus fruits, camellias, hellebores and hydrangeas. The garden consists of a romantic park and a Mediterranean garden.

The present-day garden occupies part of the former Brolo of Villa Boldieri–Trentini. Mario and Luciana Biasi laid it out from March 1977 on a former vineyard. From May to October, guided tours lasting approximately 90 minutes take place in the garden. The approximate duration provides guidance for day planning without claiming an exact end time.

The parish church of Pesina was built after 1750 and consecrated on 10 October 1769. In Pesina di Caprino Veronese, there is also a Romanesque church dedicated to Santa Cecilia that can be traced back to 1145. It was enlarged in 1460 and dedicated to San Gallo.

The Chiesa di San Gallo houses a high altar by Almerigo Gonzaga, an altarpiece by Giovanni Caliari, and a painting of the Virgin Mary and the Saints by Agostino Ugolini. The small Oratorio di San Rocco is a votive chapel on the road leading out of Pesina.

Local Details and Routes

The public washhouse in Pesina has a rectangular stone basin and marble columns at its corners. The Pro Loco C1 route runs from Pesina via Boi, Piozze and Castello back to Pesina. For planning purposes, Pesina is therefore specified as both the starting point and the endpoint.

The paths called “Vie dell’acqua”, created by the Pro Loco, pass through Pesina; there is a car park near the sports field. This reference point adds a specific location within Pesina to the route description.
